Music, Acoustics & Recording

This degree course provides students with an academic, theoretical and
practical training in music, acoustics and recording and is intended to
serve as preparation for a career in the dynamic and rapidly transforming
world of Music and Studio Production and associated industries. The degree
is a mixed mode degree run jointly by the School
of Media, Music & Performance and the Department
of Acoustics and Audio Engineering and combines the study of Applied
Acoustics with practical and creative studies in Studio Production, Music
Technology, Composition and Arranging.
The course has a three year modular, semester-based structure leading
to the selection of specialist options in the final year.

Entry requirements
Normal University entry requirements apply.
Specific requirements:
- i) A Level Music and Maths as well as a third subject or
- ii) approved equivalent qualifications such as BTEC/Diplomas or
- iii) other qualifications deemed to be acceptable in lieu of those
specified above.
Candidates with relevant professional experience in lieu of the specific
entry requirements who are able to demonstrate an ability to complete the
course are welcome to reply.
All candidates should possess good theoretical and practical musical
abilities together with some prior experience of sound recording or the
creative use of music technology. The admissions procedure may include
tests and interview. Please note, you should be familiar with, or studying,
standard mathematical procedures such as calculus, differentiation, integration
etc. before considering applying for this degree.
