BA (Hons) Band Music (BM) Studies
Grunnfag Equivalent

Mellomfagstillegg Pathway

(Commencing September 1999)

Pioneers of the Band Music Degree concept, The University of Salford has long been at the forefront of popular music education in Europe. Graduates of the BM programme take their place as leading conductors, arrangers/composers and performers in the Brass & Wind movements and beyond.

The Music Department is delighted to announce the launch of a new pathway on the established BM degree programme. Designed specifically for Norwegian candidates, the pathway is a direct response to the growing demand for a programme of study which affords the opportunity of living and working in the heartland of the brass band community. In addition to performing with one of the 4 University Bands, many students also link up with one of the numerous local brass or wind bands.

The mellomfagstillegg pathway allows students the option of graduating after 1 year of study with the grunnfag equivalent Certificate in H.E. and returning to Norway with the prerequisite for the mellomfagstillegg course. Alternatively students may wish to continue studies in Salford for the BA (Hons) BM Degree.
